St. Gianna Beretta Molla is one of the Church's lay saints. She was a wife, mother, and pediatrician, who risked her life to save that of her unborn child. She declined an abortion and hysterectomy while pregnant, despite knowing this choice could result in her own death. Instead, she opted to continue the pregnancy and passed away shortly after her fourth child was born. Canonized in 2004 by Pope John Paul II, St. Gianna is the patron saint of physicians, pregnant mothers, and unborn children.
Our mission is to foster within our parish community awareness of the dignity and sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death. Through a cooperative spirit of peace and respect, we are dedicated to observing and sharing the truth, beauty and goodness of the dignity of life teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
The St. Gianna Guild supports several ongoing St. Augustine Parish programs. These include:
Catholic Charities - Catholic ministry to the poor, the vulnerable, and families
